It's officially delayed....

HP MSS 3.0 Upgrade delayed.... now official. I wonder if they are going to contact me to swap out my old ex470 with a newer, 3.0 capable model ... it would be a excellent upgrade for my $30.54 USD.

Waiting for HP MSS 3.0?

I am still waiting for a shipping confirmation, I found out that the update will not be shipping anytime soon (at least not this week). Hopefully my information is wrong, but knowing the delay that is "HP", I am probably not.

Anyways, thank you HP for opening up the pre-order process. I am just waiting for the release date.

Finally MSS 3.0 Ordered.

Not the $25.00 as promised but ordered anyway. $27.95 +tax. Should be on it's way soon.

Also the disk is model specific.... there is a set for the ex47x series and one for the ex48x series.

ex47x --> https://warp2.external.hp.com/Driver/dr_country_select.asp?Product=589796-ZH1&lang=en&cc=us

ex48x --> https://warp2.external.hp.com/Driver/dr_country_select.asp?Product=589795-ZH1&lang=en&cc=us

Enjoy the rest of the 3rd quarter 2009 (when this was orginally stated to be released).

Ordering the Mediasmart 3.0 Upgrade Disk set

Ok, In England they can order it but Hp is still working on getting the US Links up.

Here is the order page. https://warp2.external.hp.com/Driver/dr_country_select.asp?Product=589796-ZH1&lang=en&cc=us but you click Submit to get the details on cost and you get a invalid product.

Hopefully the cost will be below the $25.00 previously stated based on the fact that in England they are charging 10 Pounds ($15.46 USD).

Looks like it patches a couple of client files and then causes a update. Don't know when the server side will update.

Window 7 RTM download day!!!!

Windows 7 RTM bits were finally made available to me and everyone else. I was going to install Windows 7 tonight but looks like it might be delayed with a 50 kilobyte download per second. Looks like everyone in the world might be downloading it at the same time.

Looks like tommorrow (night) will be the install date.

Hp preparing the next update to the Mediasmart server series

Good news, it seems that HP is preping a update to the Mediasmart servers. It seems the version will be at least 3.1.0.00000. I don't know much but I am wondering what the big jump in the version.... what new cool features will it have.

I am looking into this but as far as I can tell it updates one dll (HPMSSUpdateTest.dll) and ups the version to 3.1.0.00000 in the registry.

The update at:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL29459/dv-73221-1/MS30testENGserverinstall.exe

I do not recommend installing the update, basically because it is not in any update stream (and it is marked test).

Screen shot proof.
